OSU Star House
The Star House is dedicated to providing homeless youth, ages 14-24, and a safe respite from the streets where they are able to meet their basic needs and begin reconnecting with the larger social system. Within the context of a caring and supportive environment, we provide access to educational, employment, health care, and housing services through working collaborations with community partners.  A team of OSU staff, faculty, and undergraduate students committed to engage disconnected youth.    Conduct outreach to the streets, soup kitchens, libraries, parks, and woods.  We can help youth met basic needs. Offer food, showers, washer/dryer, relaxation, as well as offer connection to services.  Offer homeless youth critical services that help reintegrate them back into the community. We link youth to education, employment, mental/physical healthcare, parenting support, and housing providers. We are a benefit bank site.  The OSU Star House provides unconditional positive regard. Trust and hope are necessary components for youth to engage in more intensive services.  We engage those youth who failed in other programs. Homeless youth come 'as they are' and as long as the rules are followed, they can remain. Program is unstructured and flexible to help ensure success and provide a safe respite from the streets. A security guard is present from noon to closing; two staff members are present with visitors at all times.
